Baklava can be found throughout the Balkan Peninsula, as well as in Greece, Turkey, Armenia, and the Middle East. The ingredients vary regionally, depending on what is available. Some use pistachios, pine nuts, or hazelnuts, flavored with cloves or rosewater. In Macedonia, baklava is traditionally made with walnuts and almonds, flavored with cinnamon, orange, and honey.
