This comforting dessert is almost effortless and full of flavor. Flavoring the milk with orange peel and cinnamon is the way my grandmother used to make it.
In a medium saucepan over high heat, stir together the milk, rice, sugar, butter, salt, cinnamon stick, and orange peel. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat to medium. Simmer, covered, for 40 to 45 minutes, stirring often, until the rice is fully cooked. Discard the orange peel and cinnamon stick.
