The use of farina gives this cake an interesting texture and a mild flavor. Pouring the syrup over the cake when it is hot out of the oven allows the sponge to completely absorb the syrup, making this cake very moist and delicately sweet.

Method

Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9- by 11-inch (23 by 28 inch) cake pan with butter.
