Cherries are in season in the early summer in Macedonia and, like most fruits and vegetables, they grow in abundance. My parents have a thriving cherry tree in their backyard that my sister and I planted as children. These cherry preserves are sweet and tart with a bit of depth from the brandy. Spooned over yogurt, they make a great dessert or sweet breakfast.
