Papaya Salad

Papaya salad is popular throughout Southeast Asia, including in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos, where it is the national dish. In contrast to other papaya salads, which tend to be very spicy, Vietnamese papaya salad has lots of fresh herb flavor. Unripe green papaya, which can be found at any Asian grocery store, as well as via online retailers, is combined with mint and basil for freshness, while you can add chili sauce and a long red chile for an extra kick of spice.
