  • About

According to my kids, this is what Woody and Jessie from Toy Story eat for breakfast every day to make them so strong. You can actually serve this dish any time of the day—I like it spooned over a baked potato when I’m in on my own, or when I’m home from work late and want something quick and hearty.

  • a drizzle olive oil
  • 4 link pork sausages, skinned
  • 2 cans (15-oz.) baked beans
  • barbecue sauce or smoked paprika, to taste
  • a couple drops hot-pepper sauce (optional)
  • wholewheat or white bread, toasted and buttered

    1. Heat a skillet or saucepan over medium-high heat and add the oil, then break the sausages into the pan in chunks. Fry 5 minutes, or until the sausages are lightly colored and cooked through, breaking down any larger chunks of the sausages with a wooden spoon.
    2. Add the baked beans and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, stir in barbecue sauce to taste and cook a few minutes longer to thicken. Add hot-pepper sauce if you want a spicy kick.
    3. Spoon onto buttered toast and off you go … Yeehaa!
