This bread is quite sensational. Made into a thin sandwich with fresh butter and a sharp yet sweet jam, it is every child’s teatime delight. The Swedes make other fragrant rye breads, for instance the limpa, flavoured with orange peel, cumin and other spices. These round flatbreads would keep for a long time, their central holes useful for stringing them together and hanging them to dry in the rafter of the kitchen.
