This wonderful little tapa called mejillones con allioli picante is from Spain, although I’m not sure which region. Probably it is from Galicia on the Atlantic coast since this is where most of Spain’s mussels come from.

  1. Place the mussels in a large saucepan, turn the heat to high, and cover. Once all the mussels have opened, 5 to 8 minutes, cool, remove the mussels from their shells, and set aside. Discard all the shells and any mussels that remain firmly closed. Arrange the mussels on a small platter.
