  1. To make the piloncillo syrup: Place 1 cup (240 ml) of the water and the piloncillo in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Heat until the piloncillo dissolves and looks like liquid caramel. Carefully add the remaining 2½ cups (600 ml) water to the pan, along with the cinnamon stick, guavas, anise seeds, and orange peel. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then red
