A lot of dishes, like this one and the corned beef sound hard work and you may think there is no point going to all that trouble when there are so many varieties available to buy. In fact, both recipes are very simple, and there’s a great feeling of satisfaction when eating the home-made versions. They will never have the artificial pink colour that most bought varieties have. Your pork pie will have a natural colour with just a tinge of pink when finished (see p.62).
