This is a very quick and easy recipe. It has, like so many other recipes, many alternatives. Half a teaspoon of ground ginger works very well, so does the addition of a little grated orange zest, or you can enrich the whole recipe with the addition of a few tablespoons of double cream and one or two eggs. You can eat it on its own or with clotted or pouring cream.
