This is a recipe for a classic white loaf, but here I’ve added a spoonful of my onion jam, which we sometimes make in the restaurant. If you don’t fancy that, the dough itself can be flavoured with a tablespoon chopped fresh herbs, such as thyme or rosemary, or for a more pronounced taste add in up to 4 tablespoons chopped fresh mixed herbs, such as a mixture of flat-leaf parsley, basil and chives, or try adding 4 tablespoons
