  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar

Method

  1. Cream the shortening with the brown sugar. Blend in the salt, baking soda, spices and melted chocolate. Beat in the eggs. Add the flour alternately with the milk; stir in the nuts. Chill the dough for at least one hour.

  2. Preheat oven to moderate (375°F.)
