In our household, chilli chuka was more essential than ketchup (in our case, Maggi tomato sauce) or Lingham’s chilli sauce. It ranked high among our condiments, along with sambal belachan. Best of all, it was home-made and cooked in a large pot, then siphoned using a plastic funnel and bottled into recycled Ribena or Maggi sauce glass bottles.
