  • About
My mother loved to throw parties. There were the expected weddings and children’s birthday parties.

A buffet party at Yarrow Gardens.

The buffet table was set up in the driveway.

No place held as esteemed a place for her as the Spring Court restaurant, when it was still situated along Upper East Coast Road. My sisters and I teased her that she had a secret share in the business. Later, I learnt why Spring Court held a special place in her heart. The original location was in the old Great World Amusement Park where my parents met for the first time. Romantic notions aside, the Chinese restaurant also maintained the traditional banquet dishes we were accustomed to, less modernised and interfered with by ambitious chefs.
