Bonito is often the main dish for Christmas dinner in Asturias. But this popular dish can be made on any day of the year.


  • bonito, 1 kg (2 lb), cleaned weight
  • salt and flour


Cut the bonito into steaks about cm thick, season these with kitchen salt, coat them with flour and fry them in hot oil on both sides until they are golden in colour. Place the fried steaks in a shallow fireproof dish and keep them warm.
