Every single year without fail, my mom has made this soup for lent. It was the only dish that actually got all of my family out of the restaurant, because my mom only made it at home. It’s a seasonal dish, so we usually eat it only once or twice a year. During the Lenten season, when people who grew up Catholic refrain from eating meat on Fridays, they turn to a salted fish from the isthmus region called lisa, similar to mullet fish. Like salt cod, it’s heavily salted to preserve it,
