Another refreshing Mexican beverage can be made from nearly any ripe fruit and is typically sold ladled from giant glass jars. This one, made from sweet watermelon, is a welcome summer pleasure.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups cubed seeded red or yellow watermelon
  • Juice of 3 limes, or to taste

Method

In batches, puree the watermelon in a blender, adding a little cold water if necessary. Pour the watermelon puree into a pitcher, add the lime juice and sugar, and stir. Taste and adjust the sweet-and-sour balance. Thin with more cold water if you wish, and refrigerate.
