This Afghan sweet milk tea is usually enjoyed at breakfast time, alongside hot fresh naan bread and sweet preserves, or in the late afternoon.

With its delicate spiced aroma, it has become a favourite at our Kutchi Deli Parwana, where it’s served either hot or iced.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons loose-leaf black tea
  • 220 g (1 cup) white sugar

Method

Place 375 ml ( cups) water in a medium saucepan with the tea, sugar and cardamom over high heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 5 minu
