This hearty salad of cheese, ham and potatoes is substantial enough to serve as a main course. Salads that combine cheese and meat are very common in northern Europe. I devised this one with Italian flavourings in mind. The recipe has been in my repertoire since my early days as a chef and has remained one of my favourite salads.
