“It’s the berries” was one of my grandmother’s favorite expressions. Dating from the 1900s, this phrase described something popular and cool. How is the movie? It’s the berries. Do you like her dress? It’s the berries. How is your dinner? It’s the berries. After one bite of this trifle, you too will be saying, “It’s the berries.” If you can find fraises de bois, use them to decorate the top of the trifle.
