This is wonderful with double cream or a good scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
Slit the vanilla pod open and scrape out the seeds. Put them in a pan with the milk and cinnamon and bring to the boil, then pour into a shallow dish and leave to cool. Add the eggs, orange zest and caster sugar and whisk until smooth. Put the sliced bread in the egg mixture and leave to soak for 1 minute, then remove and drain.
