Elba is the largest island in the Tuscan archipelago. Though it has been important since Etruscan times as a source of copper and iron, its place in history was secured by Napoleon, who lived there in exile from May 3, 1814, to February 26, 1815. The man who once ruled much of Europe must have been restless on this little island. He spent his days developing the mining industry, building roads, and gazing west to his native Corsica. Nowadays, Elba has the most famous nudist beaches in Italy
