Pecan Pie

The pecan is one of the only major nut species native to North America. The Native Americans of the southern United States and Mexico have been consuming the pecan for centuries. When the French settled in the area of New Orleans in the 17th century, the natives were the first to introduce Europeans to this tasty nut. The settlers didn’t take long to begin incorporating the nuts into their cooking and were soon adding the pecan to their pie preparations. The pecan pie is thought to have bee
