Ingredients

  • 400 g apples, peeled, cored and thickly sliced 100 ml water

Method

  1. Put the apple pieces in a pan with the water, sugar and lemon juice and bring to the boil.
  2. Simmer for 10—12 minutes or until the apples have softened.
  3. Leave to cool, then pass through a fine sieve, or purée in a blender.
  4. Return to the heat, stir in the butter and serve warm.
