White chocolate, although not technically a chocolate at all, makes a good sauce alternative to the dark chocolate versions. My wife Anita is a bit of a white-chocolate-lover, so I often make this at home for her.

Ingredients

  • 200 g white chocolate, grated or broken into small pieces
  • 250 ml double cream
  • 4

Method

  1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water.
  2. Put the cream and milk in a separate pan and bring to the boil.
  3. Pour the cream and milk mixture into the melted chocolate, then add the butter and stir with a wooden spoon until melted and smooth. Stir in the kirsch, if using, and serve warm or leave to cool before use.
