This perky Christmas drink from the 1848 Die Geschickte Hausfrau is easy to make, a perfect project for a cherry fair. Even though the initial outlay may seem expensive, the quantity made here should last for several years.

Wash and drain the cherries. Put them in a tub or fruit press and mash. Be certain to break a large number of pits, since they give the bounce more flavor.
