This recipe is said to come from Anna Landis, wife of John Weaver (1750—1833). A Mennonite, John was opposed to the practice of serving whiskey to field hands during breaks. He served this tea instead. It is a fairly close approximation of Blue Mountain Tea and will therefore serve as a substitute when Blue Mountain Tea is unavailable.
