This recipe comes from Emma L. Yoder (1873—1961) of Hegins, in the Mahantongo Valley. It came to her from her grandmother, but it is probably much older, since the diamond shape for All Saints cakes can be traced to the ninth century. This same recipe is also used for Fastnachts.
