Glenn Brendle, a solid Pennsylvania Dutch farmer from Atglen in Chester County, kindly shared this recipe with me, a Christmas specialty made in the Brendle family for several generations. I have altered Glenn’s recipe slightly to complement the roast turkey, using walnut oil instead of lard and substituting toasted mustard seed for caraway or anise.
