Mince pie is a traditional holiday dessert in the UK and New England, where it is known as mincemeat pie. It is made with apples, dried and candied fruits, and a nice splash of booze. This meatless mince filling is meant to be made ahead and aged before baking it into a pie, so that the flavors can deepen and meld. Since this process is somewhat time-consuming, I find it’s more efficient to make two pies, and because of this the recipe yields enough filling for two—make one pie for yourself
