This sweet chutney is often served alongside green chutney with many Indian dishes, such as my Roasted Āloo Chāt. Date-tamarind chutney is another version; to make it, you can simply substitute 1 to 2 tablespoons tamarind paste or concentrate for the lemon juice.

Ingredients

  • 5 Medjool dates, pitted and roughly chopped (about ½ cup/75 g)
  • 2 teaspoons

Method

Place all of the ingredients in a small saucepan with 1 cup (240 ml) water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer. Cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally until the dates resemble a paste
