This is an ideal accompaniment to a veal and mushroom casserole, when prepared in its simplest form. But with slight elaboration it can stand alone.

  • 2 lb potatoes
  • a clove of garlic

Method

Oil the bottom of the dish. Peel the potatoes and slice them very thinly. Lay them on the bottom of the dish, slice the garlic and distribute it over the potatoes with some herbs and salt. Put another layer of potatoes down, then some more garlic and some more herbs and salt, and go on with this until the dish is full.
