  • 1 pound okra, ends cut off and pods halved
  • 1 quart (4 cups) water

Method

  1. Soak okra in water and salt included in A, for 1 hour.
  2. In a caldero or heavy kettle, combine ingredients included in B, and brown salt pork and ham rapidly.
  3. Turn heat to low and sauté ingredients included in C for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
