You can substitute any sliced cake for the angel food cake in this recipe, but I like this combination. Perhaps unexpectedly, I make this the most in the winter with frozen blueberries, which I roast straight from frozen.

In a large frying pan, heat a knob or two of butter over medium heat until foamy. Pan fry the cake slices until golden brown and toasted, then flip and fry the other side.
