Rice overcooked in milk with a bit of cinnamon and raisins was my grandfather’s favorite breakfast. I find it similarly pleasant. It’s the sort of breakfast that feels decadent and cozy but isn’t so sweet that it makes you feel gross for the rest of the day. In Michigan, my favorite plums, the very tart ones, come into season right as the mornings begin to cool way down. It’s the perfect time for returning to warm breakfasts.
