One of the items on our sweet counter that we have available every day, this is a dense but not overly sweet take on flapjack, with not as much golden syrup or honey as some. It’s particularly good at 11am with a cup of tea, when lunch seems light years away.

Preheat the oven to 175°C and line a 20 x 20cm square cake tin with baking parchment.

Tip all the dry ingredients into a large bowl and mix to combine. In a saucepan, bring the golden syrup, honey and butter to the boil. Pour over the oat mixture and stir until fully incorporat
