Peaches & Cream

There were peach trees in our Groendal garden, so I know the joy of eating sun-ripened peaches picked from a tree. But I also know the intense pleasure derived from eating canned peaches (or rather ‘can peaches’ as we called it) and Ideal Milk, as that was a treat in our home. The only thing better than canned peaches is a jar of preserved peaches in syrup that someone has made specially for you. This dessert is a slightly fancier version of my childhood favourite and it packs a nostalgic f
