Ingredients

  • 2 onions, peeled and finely sliced
  • 50 g butter
  • 4 whole cardamom pods, smashed

Method

In a large saucepan over a medium to high heat, add the onions and butter. Stir and fry for 1 minute. Then cover with a lid and cook until golden and tender, approximately 5 minutes. Add the cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, rice and dried fruit. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Lastly add the water and bring to the boil.
