Method

Cut 1-inch-thick steak into thin strips 3 inches long, and marinate for at least 4 hours in a mixture of soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, finely chopped onion and garlic, and powdered cumin.

Thread the beef on skewers; brush with marinade and grill over charcoal or under the grill until done, turning the skewers from time to time. Season to taste with freshly ground black pepper.
