Asparagus Polonaise

    • 2 pounds asparagus
    • pinch of sugar
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper


    Wash and trim asparagus. Lay it flat in a shallow saucepan and cook, covered, in a small amount of boiling water to which you have added sugar, salt, freshly ground black pepper and butter, until just tender - 10 to 15 minutes.

    Drain asparagus and place on serving dish. Spoon Polonaise Sauce over it and serve immediately.
