    Prepare and cook Brussels sprouts as above.

    Place hot seasoned sprouts in a well-buttered ovenproof dish. Pour over well-flavoured cheese sauce.

    Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan; add finely chopped nuts and freshly grated breadcrumbs; simmer for a minute or two, then spoon over cheese sauce. Bake in a moderately hot oven (
