Grilled Italian Tomatoes

    • 6 large ripe tomatoes
    • butter
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper
    • dried oregano


    Cut tomatoes in half. Place tomato halves in a buttered baking dish. Season to taste with salt, freshly ground black pepper and dried oregano; sprinkle with breadcrumbs, finely chopped chives or onion, and freshly grated Parmesan. Dot tomatoes with butter and grill them 3 inches from the heat until tender.
