    • 10 ounces sifted plain flour
    • 2 level teaspoons baking powder
    • ½ level

    Method

    Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl. Work softened butter and vanilla extract together until soft; add sugar gradually and continue beating until mixture is creamy. Separate eggs and beat yolks thoroughly into creamed mixture. Stir in a third of the flour mixture; and add a third of the milk.
