    • 5 bananas, peeled and sliced
    • ½ pint chilled custard (see vanilla ice cream)
    • grated rind and juice of


    Flavour custard with grated orange rind. Rub ripe bananas through a sieve to make ¼ pint banana purée. Add strained orange juice, chilled custard and whipped cream to banana purée, and flavour to taste with sugar and 1 or 2
