Ingredients: powdered sugar and cinnamon; ½ pint cream, whipped; 1 punnet fresh strawberries, crushed and sweetened; ½ pound sugar; 4 egg whites; 4-6 tablespoons cream; 2 level teaspoons baking powder; 1 ounce cornflour; 3 ounces plain flour; ½ teaspoon vanilla extract; 4 egg yolks; ¼ pound castor sugar; 2 ounces butter

Method

Torte

Combine butter, sugar, yolks, vanilla extract, flour, cornflour, baking powder and cream, and beat until smooth. Spread mixture in two 8- or 9-inch sandwich tins.

Topping

Beat 4 egg whites until stiff. Gradually blend in sugar, beating continuously. Add vanilla extract, to taste.

Spread topping over Torte.
