- 1 lb/455 g uniformly sized beets, any type, trimmed

- Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350°F/180°C/gas 4. Line the bottom and sides of a medium-size baking pan with aluminum foil. (This makes cleanup much easier!)
- Gently scrub the beets under cool running water to remove any dirt.
