  • About

Baked apples make a healthy dessert that always reminds me of autumn, especially when the new crop of apples arrive at the farmers’ market. Honeycrisp is a relatively new variety that you might want to try. It is sweet and juicy and good for baking. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream or Greek-style yogurt, the healthy choice!

Ingredients

  • 3 large baking apples (Gala, Braeburn, Granny Smith)
  • cup coarsely ground almonds
  • ¼

Method

Heat the oven to 400° F. Cut the apples in half lengthwise and remove the core and stem end. A melon baller works well for this. Place the apples cut side up in a pie pan or shallow baking dish.

Combine the almonds, brown sugar and butter and spoon into the center of each apple
