Traditional Norwegian cookies, Fattigman are “poor man’s cakes” named for the original country bakers who created the recipe. This recipe came from a friend who anticipated her mom frying them every Christmas Day. You can buy a fattigmann cutter (see Sources) but they can easily be shaped by following the directions below.
