  • butter
  • castor sugar
  • baking-powder
  • lemon rind

Method

Rub four ounces of butter into eight ounces of flour. Stir in four ounces of sugar, the grated rind of half a lemon and half a teaspoonful of baking-powder. Moisten with a beaten egg.
